SAP Customer Checkout implemented at AGRAVIS in record time

AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG is a modern agricultural trading company in the segments of agricultural products, animal nutrition, plant production and agricultural technology. Furthermore, it operates in the areas energy and Raiffeisen stores/markets including construction materials markets as well as construction projects.
With about 6,500 employees, the market leader AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG generates a turnover of EUR 6.5 billion and is predominantly active in more than 400 locations in Germany.
In August 2020 and under the direction of consenso, AGRAVIS went live with the new POS solution for the Raiffeisen stores. The template suited for rollout has been defined within a project duration of only six months – from the first workshop to the final tests – and will be brought into the markets in the coming weeks.
Like many other German retailers, AGRAVIS was also facing the challenge that its POS solutions did not comply with the currently valid legal requirements regarding the German “Kassensicherungsverord-nung” (cash register regulation). Instead of adjusting the legacy system, AGRAVIS decided to implement a new POS software complying with the legal requirements, but also representing a future-proof and sustainable solution within the AGRAVIS architecture and, in the end, taking into account the company’s SAP strategy – the SAP Customer Check Solution, in short: CCO.
The key challenge – also with regard to the short project period – was to determine and map all relevant processes of the markets. Due to the broad spatial distribution of the single stores the overall template must be capable of being extended by local adjustments.
In addition to the replacement of the POS solution, we also connected the existing non-SAP ERP system that will remain the inventory management system until the implementation of SAP S/4HANA.
The integration into the legacy system was realised via SAP PO. Interfaces supplying the system with master and transaction data had been designed beforehand and modelled via PO afterwards. An integration into the Solution Manager allows for monitoring all channels as well as the PO itself from a central point.
SAP’s Customer Checkout Manager, in short: CCOM, serves as an upstream central instance between SAP PO and the actual POS systems. It manages employee data and distributes them to the POS via a role and authorisation concept. CCOM also governs the voucher management – the current paper vouchers shall be replaced by rechargeable voucher cards in the near future.
Together with SAP CCO, AGRAVIS also introduced SAP Customer Activity Repository (in short: CAR). In the first step, POS DTA is used to monitor POS transactions. Specific tasks allow for transferring all document files as well as cash balances to the existing ERP system.
Overlooking future requirements, SAP OPP for the management of promotions and OAA as a central source for inventory information will also play an important role.
All activities in the course of the implementation, including go-live and the subsequent rollout, have been performed fully remotely to date. All project activities – by the customer as well as consenso as AGRAVIS’ SAP implementation partner – have been conducted from home, meetings and workshops have been held by videoconferencing.
It has become clear again: the implementation of a new solution – moreover in remote work and in record time – can only be achieved with a clear objective, a suitable team and a lot of passion. And with the clear determination to implement a standard solution. All this has been the case in the AGRAVIS project.
In the following weeks, the POS solution will be rolled out to all stores, followed by the integration into SAP S/4HANA.
